For the picture of Piper that I took this weekend I thought that it looked a little blown out so I used adjustment layers to fix it. I first used a level adjustment layer to darken the background a little and then used the brush tool to bring Piper back to normal color. She also has a little jaundice (only 3 days old) so I used a selective color adjustment layer to take some of the red and orange out of the picture.

For the picture of McCall, I just wanted to make it really vibrant. I did a watercolor smart filter and then erased the filter off of her face and most of her hair and shirt. I also did a levels adjustment layer on this picture except for I changed it from RGB channel to the red and green channel and adjusted the levels from there. That is what gives this picture a yellowish bluish tone.

  1. Nice work with the edits on these photos. You did a great job taking a blown out photo and adding some contrast. The finished project looks amazing. I like the filter on the photo of McCall. I like the tone of everything except for what the color did to her face. It looks a little too yellow for the skin tone. (Just my opinion) Great work on the photos and edits.

  2. I really like the pic of the baby. You did really good with the edits, and the angle that you have on both of them.

  3. Great job on Piper's picture bringing the white balance back down. Also, I would agree that McCall's picture has to much of yellow tone on her face. I can see where the effect you might be trying to get so maybe reduce the opacity on just her face to not make it so intense? But great job either way. You've got some really great talents!

  4. I absolutely love love love your photograph of the baby! The adjustments you did really enhanced the real focal point of the photo. That baby is so cute! The other photo is also really great with the adjustments that were made. You did a really great job!
