Blended Images & Type

1. Squirrel: 4/30/10; 4:30 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f5.6; 1/200; Canon 7d
2. Clouds: 4/30/10; 4:15 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f18; 1/800; Canon 7d
3. Wall: 4/30/10; 4:00 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f6.3; 1/125; Canon 7d

This squirrel picture was a happy accident. I was doing a photoshoot and this little guy just happened to look right at me. He moved fast... but I was able to get this shot of him. I really liked the original picture but thought it would look neat with a couple of textured shots blended in. I did the overlay blending mode on both the sky and wall and then also did a layer mask to mask out parts that didn't look good.

1. Bark: 4/30/10; 4:30 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f5.6; 1/200; Canon 7d
2. Rocks: 4/30/10; 4:40 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f5.6; 1/125; Canon 7d
3. Bricks: 4/30/10; 5:00 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f5.6; 1/100; Canon 7d
4. Teeing Up: 5/1/10; 3:10 pm; Idaho Falls, ID; f5.6; 1/200; Canon 7d
5. Lining up the putt: 5/1/10; 3:30; Idaho Falls, ID: f5.6; 1/200; Canon 7d

I used quite a few pictures to finally get an effect that I liked. I used the overlay blending mode on the bark, a soft light blending mode on the rocks, and a hard light blending mode on the brick. I used layer masks on all of the layers except for the rocks in order to erase part of the picture I didn't want to show and reveal other layers I did want to show.
For the text I used an overlay blending mode and really like how it looks.

  1. I really like the photo of the hand with the golf ball. It is simple yet expressive. Adding the vignette adds so much! I love how the text photo with all of them blended turned out. Simply amazing! I am not a golfer but you did a really nice job arranging the photos and blending them. I can't wait to see what else you come up with in this class! Keep it up!

  2. An interesting blend on the Squirrel. I can't really see the effects of the concrete though..did it darken it? Or maybe it's the clouds I can't see. But I guess you're not really supposed to be able to tell what images were blended anyway right? So in that way you succeeded :) For the golf one though, it's a little bit hard for me to see the wrist, maybe that's a little picky, but at first it kind of looked like a floating fist. Maybe a suggestion would be to make that more prominent?

  3. I think that the best kind of blending is the blending that isn't entirely obvious. I really feel that both blending methods and pictures are well blended and add a very interesting and absorbing photograph.

  4. love all of your texture shots, and the subtle blending on the squirrel. You did a great job of combining a lot of images without it feeling to crazy.

  6. The golf poster is very well made and i love how you added the hand with the ball the close up make it feel more focused and very professional looking. You can almost feel the suspense.
